Update - Friday February 10
* Fixed an exploit that could allow players to bring high-level items into pre-Searing Ascalon
Finally... an end to the madness (and threads).

But I'm going to assume that those with the items still have them?

since it's fixed: in presear -> join observer mode -> use guild display button to enter guildhall -> get items from guildmate -> use guild display button to go back to presear
people abusing this exploit deserve a 24h ban

I have to disagree - i never did it once, hell i didn't hear about it til right now, but they weren't actually 'cheating', they did take advantage of the game but they dont deserve to be banned for it. If I'm playing a hockey game and find an easy way to score and do it over and over, the devs have every right to fix it, but they can't ban me for it; its their fault it was there in the first place and i'm just playing the game.

Anet banned some accounts (less than 10) permanently for exploiting a doppleganger-bug to get insane amounts of xp. It didn't effect other players, but they got banned. This exploit effects other players (money influx into presear useful to buy up more black dye), why should cheaters remain unharmed?

"gee I don't have anything better in post "
Lets not forget that pre-searing ppls are not the richest ppl in the world.....

There you are WRONG. It's against the EULA and ROC (Rules of Conduct) to exploit game bugs, loopholes, flaws, etc and they are fully covered to suspend or ban you if you do so. This isn't a case of "Oh I can do anything I want and if it's exploiting a loophole then it's ok for me to do it because the game makers shouldn't have allowed it in the first place." This is a case of "Oh there is an exploit but I better not do it as it's against the rules."
to quote..

So as you can see they have *EVERY* right to suspend or ban people who exploited this bug/loophole. Doing so breached the rules of conduct, which is an offense which is a suspendable offense if ANet decide to make it so.

It certainly wasnt the ability to pwn presear that made the exploit noticeable.
It was those ppl that thought, they could actually sell postsear items and make a profit from presear players. (ie. WTS BAGS for etc.)
/amusing nonetheless.
/delt w/ pretty fast.
I 2nd the motion: kudos to Anet.
